1. Bichon Frise

The Bichon Frise, renowned for its affectionate temperament, has been crowned the top dog breed for those whose love language is physical touch, with an impressive index score of 8.13 out of 10. Known for its soft, powder-puff coat and small size, this breed excels in both affection and minimal shedding, making it an ideal companion, especially during the colder months.

2. Pomeranian

Pomeranians take the second spot, with a score of 7.45 out of 10, scoring high marks for affection, size and coat type. They always ensure they are close to their owners and are known for their love of belly rubs and being petted.

3. Poodle

Following closely behind are Poodles in third place, with a score of 7.40 out of 10. Poodles love being the centre of attention and are extremely affectionate.

4. Bolognese

With an index score of 7.37, Bolognese are in fourth place. This Bichon-type dog breed usually shadows its owner and is extremely empathetic. If you’re feeling a little blue, this breed will surely cheer you up as they are known for their affectionate tendencies.

5. Schipperke

Rounding off the top 5 are Schipperkes, with a score of 7.12. With their charming personalities, schipperkes make the perfect family dog. This loyal breed is extremely affectionate. Plus, they have a double coat that is pretty low maintenance and can be kept in good condition with a weekly brushing.
