Full Description

AT STUD - BUDDY - OPEN FIELD TRIAL AWARD WINNER. PROVEN AT STUD - PROVEN HEALTHY - PROVEN IN THE FIELD.

BOTH Buddy's parents are FIELD TRIAL CHAMPIONS (FTCH) and ALL FOUR grandparents are FTCH, two of which are outright COCKER SPANIEL CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS (ie. Judged to be the best dogs in the United Kingdom in their respective years) - This is the pinnacle of achievement in working Cocker Spaniels. These lines are not just great achievers, they are continual producers of great quality and successful examples of the breed. Eg: Another Cocker Spaniel Championship Winner, FTCH Abiann Flawless is Buddy's half sister, who won the 2018 Cocker Spaniel Championships. Buddy has a loving, relaxed temperament around the house or kennel and remains level headed when the going gets tough. Sits calmly at a peg when required, allowing other dog's to work around him without jealousy. When called for action, he's a very fast, stylish and powerful hunter, with an excellent nose, never outrunning his ability to optimise his scenting ability and regulating his speed and head carriage to make the most of terrain and wind conditions. This makes him really exciting to watch work and a real asset on a day's shooting. Facing any cover, be it rough grass, reeds, or the most evil of bramble, even a sea of nettles, as if it were no obstacle at all, with absolutely no fear and the same enthusiastic vigour and drive. A superb, all-round working dog, who has responded to training very well indeed and loves his job!

Labrador owners would be proud of the way he handles, on land or water!

A PROPER GAME-FINDER and BAG-FILLER. EXCELLENT ON UNSEEN RUNNERS. Buddy is proving to be a prepotent sire (ie: passing his great qualities on to his offspring - regardless of different bitch lines) and we are seeing some very nice examples from breeders who have used him at stud, some coming back for repeat matings. Already awarded SECOND PLACE in a Novice Cocker Spaniel Field Trial as a 2 year old. Placed FOURTH in an OPEN Cocker Spaniel Field Trial on his first time out in 2018. Due to his exceptional nose, calm temperament and fearless hunting, he would suit bitches who would benefit from these enhancements to their bloodline, or to reinforce and carry forward these qualities in an outstanding bitch. We do understand that not everyone wants a highly competitive dog for Field Trials, the shooting field or agility sports, however as he has such a calm, loving temperament, we feel this also helps to produce excellent, well rounded family pets and let's face it, even the hardest working beating or picking-up dog has some chill-out time. EXTENSIVELY HEALTH TESTED FOR YOUR PIECE OF MIND. Eyetest info: GB BVA GPRA/CPRA Eyetest: unaffected GPRA: unaffected CPRA: unaffected Gonio: unaffected DNA tests: FN (Familial Nephropathy) : CLEAR. AMS (Acral Mutilation Syndrome) : CLEAR. GPRA (PRA-prcd - PROGRESSIVE RETINAL ATROPHY - progressive Rod-cone degeneration) linkage : CLEAR In DNA tests, the term CLEAR means that: Clear tested dogs have no copies of the mutant gene responsible for the condition and will neither develop the condition, nor pass the gene on to their offspring. This means that even if you mated a carrier bitch to a clear dog, such as Buddy, the offspring would not develop the condition themselves. Difficult to mate, nervous or maiden bitches are no problem for him and although he is gentle with the ladies, he is 100% effective, as, when timings have been right, every mating with him has resulted in a successful fertilisation. This is especially important if you are coming a long way, or your bitch is particularly 'vocal', 'snappy' or even aggressive to his advances, which tends to put a lot of stud dogs off the job at hand. Feel free to call with any questions about him, or any pre-mating preparation concerns you may have. We would encourage clients to bring their bitch more than once during her fertile season, to make sure that the ovulation window is well and truly covered, increasing the likelihood of a successful outcome for you. Overnight board can be provided for your bitch, by prior arrangement. Also pictured are two home bred daughters, one liver, one black with white bib on a grass field. FAQs. The most frequently asked question we hear is: Q: HOW MANY PUPPIES PER LITTER DOES YOUR STUD DOG PRODUCE? This question could be more accurately put as: How many puppies does your BITCH normally produce? A: Fit and Healthy male dogs are thought to produce around 10,000,000 sperm cells per pound of bodyweight. That means that the average Cocker would produce something in the region of 240 million sperm cells in every ejaculation - that would be a hell of a lot of puppies if they were all to fertilise, something that no bitch could survive. Therefore THE TRUTH IS; that the bitch controls the amount of puppies born, by the amount of eggs produced and those which she is able to keep viable beyond fertilisation. This is why it is so important that your bitch is in the best of health and free from disease and infection, leading up to the mating and throughout gestation and rearing. That will ensure that as many viable eggs as her body believes that she will be able to carry safely, are fertilised and bought to full term. The BITCH determines the quantity and quality of eggs she produces, the DOG can only fertilise what is available. The bitch naturally discards the rest. BOTH DOG AND BITCH should be in excellent health. Once she has been mated, keep her fit and trim, this will help towards a healthy, natural birth. We hope that this helps and if required, can advise you on what to look for, when your bitch is approaching her most fertile period. The photos of Buddy sitting at the peg on a wet driven day, are courtesy of Joanna Eardley Photography, who managed to capture his alert attentiveness so clearly. Many thanks to Joanna! See the picture of Buddy with his 3 year old daughter, who we own and we also have a young pup (2021) by him. Thank you for your interest in Buddy.

Please Note: Buddy's stud fee had not altered during the pandemic and in fact remains the same as in his first year at stud. HE'S A LOVER - NOT A CAPITALIST
